Printing

The library's printer and copier may only be used by College of Medicine students faculty and staff for reproducing library resources. Any other printing or copying (class assignments, notes, slides, etc.) should be done in student communities or departments.

Students and faculty visiting from Regional Medical Campuses will be given permission to print in the library.

Color printing is not available in the library.

General collection books and media may be renewed up to five times by using the online renewal process.

Return reserve books and media checked out overnight to the medical library service by 9 a.m. the following business day. If a reserve item is checked out after 1 p.m. on a Friday, the item is to be returned by 9 a.m. the following Monday.Reserve books and media may be renewed once by emailing medlibrary@med.fsu.edu or calling (850) 644-3883 before the due time.

Whiteboards and standing desksare available for use in the Medical Library. College of Medicine students, staff, and faculty may check out whiteboards and standing desks for 3 days at a time and use them anywhere within the College of Medicine building. Mini-whiteboards and markers are also available for a 4-hour loan period within the College of Medicine building, and Standing Desks are available for a 3-day loan period. Both of these items can be checked out at the library's front desk. They may be renewed once by emailing medlibrary@med.fsu.edu or calling (850) 644-3883 before the due time. Borrowers will be responsible for loss or damages.

Who May Borrow

All FSU faculty, staff, and students may borrow items from the General collection. Affiliates of any State University System (SUS) library or community college may borrow materials with a valid, current ID card from their home college or university. First-time borrowers will need to visit Strozier or Dirac for library staff to verify good standing at their home institution and create a FSU Libraries patron record. Where and When Items May Be Returned

Materials may be returned to the Maguire Medical Library from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. College of Medicine students with card-swipe access may return items in the book drop after hours. In addition, items may be returned to any other FSU library for delivery to the Maguire Medical Library.

 

Interlibrary Loan Service

Florida State University affiliates (faculty; staff; students; and fellows/residents) may request interlibrary loans (ILL) through the Maguire Medical Library;

 

Distance Borrowers

College of Medicine students, faculty, or staff located outside of Leon County may request print materials (e.g., books) be shipped to a preferred home or office location. Include your shipping address when emailing a request to medlibrary@med.fsu.edu or submitting an ILL form

Distance borrowers are responsible for return shipment costs. Please ship books directly to the Maguire Medical Library. FSU COM distance borrowers may drop off books to their regional medical campus for return to the Maguire Medical Library.

Student Leave of Absence

The Office of the University Registrar sets students on a leave of absence to LEAV (Leave of Absence), an INACTIVE university status. INACTIVE students are restricted from library privileges such as borrowing materials and remotely accessing electronic resources.
