EndNote 20 Download & Installation

EndNote has different download and installation instructions for Mac OS and Windows OS; please select the appropriate instructions for your operating system.

EndNote Licensing Information

The Florida State University College of Medicine provides EndNote citation software through a license for all current FSU College of Medicine students, faculty, and staff with a COM-issued device. Contact the COM Office of Information Technology for further licensing information. 

Installing EndNote 20 on Windows

Download & Installation


  1. On your College of Medicine-issued computer, make sure Windows is completely updated and close any Microsoft Office programs that are open.
  2. Press Start and type software center to select and open the Software Center application. 
  3. In the Software Center, type "endnote" to select the EndNote 20 installation application. EndNote 20 is the most current version and supported by our library. 
  4. Click on the EndNote 20 icon. Click Install. 
  5. Once the application's status has changed to Installed, the EndNote program should be available to open on your computer. You may have to restart your computer. 
  1. After installation is complete, EndNote 20 can be found under C: \ Program Files (x86) - ready to be added to your Desktop for set-up. To locate and open EndNote 20, press Start and type endnote to select and open the EndNote 20 program. 
  2. You will be asked to accept the EndNote 20 License. Check to make sure that FSU College of Medicine appears as the Licensee before clicking Accept.
  3. To verify that EndNote is installed on your computer, open the Software Center, click on Installation status in the left menu, and search for endnote. The EndNote application should appear the in the list of your installed applications.

Installing EndNote 20 on Macs

Download & Installation


  1. On your College of Medicine-issued Mac computer, make sure your operating system is completely updated and close any Microsoft Office programs that are open.
  2. Click on the Spotlight Search looking glass and type software center to select and open the Software Center application. 
  3. In the Software Center, type "endnote" to select the EndNote 20 installation application. EndNote 20 is the most current version and supported by our library. 
  4. Click on the EndNote 20 icon. Click Install
  5. Once the application's status has changed to Installed, the EndNote program should be available to open on your computer. You may have to restart your computer.

  1. After installation is complete, EndNote 20 can be found in your Applications folder and ready to be opened for set-up. To locate and open EndNote 20, open the Spotlight Search and type endnote to select and open the EndNote 20 program. You can also find EndNote 20 in your list of apps in Finder Applications folder. 
  2. You will be asked to accept the EndNote 20 License. Check to make sure that FSU College of Medicine appears as the Licensee before clicking Accept.
  3. To verify that EndNote is installed on your computer, open the Software Center, click on Browse in the left menu, and then click on All. The EndNote application should appear the in the list of your installed applications.
